A simple second order cartesian scheme for compressible Euler flows

چکیده
We present a finite-volume scheme for compressible Euler flows where the grid is cartesian and it does not fit to the body. The scheme, based on the definition of an ad hoc Riemann problem at solid boundaries, is simple to implement and it is formally second order accurate. Results show that pressure is locally and globally second accurate, whereas the accuracy of other variables is between 1 and 2. Examples of flow solutions in two and three dimension are shown. A Simple Second Order Cartesian Scheme for Compressible Flows
A simple second order scheme for compressible inviscid flows on cartesian meshes is presented. An appropriate Rieman solver is used to impose the impermeability condition. The level set function defines the immersed body and provides some useful geometrical data to increase the scheme accuracy. A modification of the convective fluxes computation for the cells near the solid ensures the boundary...
متن کاملThe numerical simulation of compressible flow in a Shubin nozzle using schemes of Bean-Warming and flux vector splitting
Over the last ten years, robustness of schemes has raised an increasing interest among the CFD community. The objective of this article is to solve the quasi-one-dimensional compressible flow inside a “Shubin nozzle” and to investigate Bean-Warming and flux vector splitting methods for numerical solution of compressible flows. Two different conditions have been considered: first, there is a sup...
متن کاملA Composite Finite Difference Scheme for Subsonic Transonic Flows (RESEARCH NOTE).
This paper presents a simple and computationally-efficient algorithm for solving steady two-dimensional subsonic and transonic compressible flow over an airfoil. This work uses an interactive viscous-inviscid solution by incorporating the viscous effects in a thin shear-layer. Boundary-layer approximation reduces the Navier-Stokes equations to a parabolic set of coupled, non-linear partial diff...
متن کاملAn Adaptive Semi-Implicit Scheme for Simulations of Unsteady Viscous Compressible Flows
A numerical scheme for simulation of unsteady, viscous, compressible flows is considered. The scheme employs an explicit discretization of the inviscid terms of the N avier-Stokes equations and an implicit discretization of the viscous terms. The discretization is second order accurate in both space and time. Under appropriate assumptions, the implicit system of equations can be decoupled into ...
متن کاملA second order cartesian scheme for BGK equation
A simple second order scheme is presented for BGK equation on cartesian grids to simulate rarefied gas flows. An immersed boundary technique is then used since the mesh is body fitted. The asymptotic preserving properties of the BGK equation discretization towards Euler limit are also investigated with emphasis on the boundary conditions as the Knudsen number goes to zero. Reconstruction techni...
